Empties #1

I go through phases where I tell myself I need to use up all of the products I have at home before I can buy anything else.  Sometimes it works.  Sometimes it doesn’t.  Especially if I see something new or if I’m just feeling extra impulsive that day.  One of my goals for this year was to stop hoarding products so I have been on a mission to use up everything I have.  Empties videos on YouTube are some of my favorites to watch so I thought I’d make it into a post.  I’m always interested to see what products people are using up & re-purchasing as well as the ones they didn’t like!  These are all products I’ve been using up since December.

Nivea In Shower Lotion |  I have purchased & re-purchased this so many times.  I cannot sing its praises enough & 100% recommend it!  I especially love to use it in the winter when our house is cold in the mornings & the last thing I want to do is stand around to put on lotion after showering.

LA Tan Extender Lotion |  This was a lotion I had stashed away in the closet when we moved into our house a few months ago.  I found it at Walmart earlier this year although they have since stopped selling it in the stores.  I’ve used the LA Tan self tanning lotion many times.  I was really surprised by this lotion, especially since’s pretty cheap.  It’s not sticky, doesn’t smell awful, and is super moisturizing.  Since it’s a tan extender, it does have some DHA in it & the color is good.

A Thousand Wishes Body Cream |  Another lotion sitting in the closet that needed to be used up.  This is probably one of my top favorite scents right behind Secret Wonderland from B&BW.  Just an FYI– this lotion turns yellow if you don’t use it fast enough!  It was white when I bought it but when I got towards the end of the bottle, it had turned yellow.

St. Moriz Self Tanner (Dark) |  I decided to give this brand a try after I went into Ulta to buy their self tanning spray & they were completely sold out (no surprise there as they are always out of stock on something I want).  I actually really really liked this stuff & would purchase it over the Ulta brand now.  It’s dark when you spray it on but really evens out as you blend it in & has a really nice color once it has set in.

Up & Up Magnolia and Pistachio Body Wash |  I love the scent of this stuff!  I’ve been using the Up & Up brand body washes for awhile and really like them.  I feel like they are very comparable to the Dove body washes which are a little more expensive.  I just wish they made these in bigger bottles because I feel like I go through them so fast!

Banana Boat Self Tanner (Medium-Dark) |   This was a re-purchase as these bottles aren’t very big.  My current self tanning routine involves “cutting” this lotion with a self tanning spray to make it a little dark + blend in better.  Weird?  Maybe.  But it’s working for me right now!

L’Oreal Sleek It Iron Straight Heat Spray |   I am so so picky about the type of thermal spray I use.  I hate the kind that feels like hair spray & leaves your hair feeling crunchy.  It has been hard to find a good thermal spray so I picked this up awhile back.  It’s not terrible but not amazing either.  This bottle is about 75% empty only because the sprayer kept getting clogged & I would end up with more liquid on the floor than in my hair.  I decided to stop fighting it & toss it in the trash.

Revlon Color Stay Foundation |  Another re-purchase of a makeup staple in my collection.  I have been using this product for awhile & always seem to go back to it!

Degree Motion Sense Dry Spray Deodorant |  I picked this up only because I was curious to try it out.  I really liked this stuff, mostly because I didn’t end up getting white marks all over my clothes.  It also lasted a VERY long time!  I haven’t re-purchased it yet only because I wanted to save some money & went back to my regular stick deodorant for now.

Jergens Natural Glow Lotion (Medium) |   If you’re not using this, go buy it now!  I have been using this stuff off & on ever since it came out when I was in high school.  They have really improved this product over the years. I have tried the off brand lotions & they just don’t work as well as Jergens.

EOS Shaving Cream |  Anyone else really lazy about shaving their legs?  I used to be one of those people that would just use a razor & water…… BAD.  My skin finally decided to freak out on me last winter, especially my legs.  I decided to give this a try since I love other EOS products & I’ve been using it ever since!  It’s not your typical shaving cream but more of a lotion.  I also seem to go through a bottle every 3-4 weeks so I’m constantly re-purchasing it.

Olay Regenerist Face Cream Cleanser |  Just like shaving my legs, I used to be so bad about washing my face.  I KNOW I KNOW.  I’m learning to be nicer to my skin.  This face wash wasn’t awful but I feel like it didn’t get a lot of my makeup off compared to some others I’ve used in the past.

Tresemme Smooth & Silky Shampoo |  I don’t have much to say about this one.  I’ve used it in the past along with the conditioner and I can tell you this was kind of an impulse buy.  I didn’t mind it but I will say it wasn’t the best shampoo I’ve ever used.

Softsoap Blackberry Sugar Body Scrub |  I’ve re-purchased this stuff many many times.  I use it to exfoliate my skin before putting self tanner on.  I think it works just as good as the more expensive body scrubs!

Alright, so I went through a ton of products over the past month & a half!  I still have a ways to go in my collection though, specifically makeup items that I need to use up.  Have you used any of these products?  What are some of your favorites?

I need to buy some of that in-shower lotion! I suckkkkkkk at putting on lotion. My sister has some of that stuff, so when we were living together I’d always steal it (shhhh). It helps SO much, which I’m just realizing now that I’m without it! Will definitely have to purchase it once I’ve moved into my place. 🙂

It’s the best! I think this one is WAY better than the kind they make that comes in the darker blue bottle!

Self tanning is HARD in the winter because your skin is SO dry so it doesn’t want to stick very well. That’s why I like the Jergens lotion or mixing a self tanner with another type of lotion!

I completely have the same problem with hoarding products. Lotion, perfume and fingernail polish. I never seem to finish them. I’m a bit embarrassed to admit this, but I am so proud when I empty a bottle! You seem to be tackling the hoarding really well. Thanks for sharing!

I’m kind of glad that I’m not the only one with this problem, haha! I don’t even want to look at my nail polish collection & count the number I have… ugh, I know it’s BAD!

I’ve never used the towelette self tanner before but I’m interested to try them! I bet the Rodan & Fields stuff is really good too!
