Save & Splurge | Show & Tell Tuesday

Happy Tuesday!

I’m linking up with Andrea today to talk about the things that I save & splurge on!  This was a fun topic to put together so let’s just get right into it!

Workout Clothes
I spend maybe $10-$15 (or less) on my workout clothes only because they don’t last very long.  The majority of my workouts are HIT/bootcamp type workouts so my clothes are normally drenched in sweat by the time I’m finished.  Almost all of my shorts are from Old Navy.  It seems like they are always on sale, sometimes for as cheap as $7 or $8!  Some of my favorite tank tops are the basic racerback ones from Forever 21 which are around $5 (whenever they are in stock– I’m not seeing any right now but I know they bring them back every so often!).  Gordmans is another awesome place for workout clothes & I’ve gotten quite a few tops there.  If you’re not familiar with Gordmans, it’s similar to a TJ Maxx.  I’m not sure how many states they have stores in!

This one could also fit under the splurge category as you have to pay the membership costs + it’s almost impossible to leave there without dropping at least $100.  I’m putting it under save as we stock up on our most used items there, like paper products, meats, cheese, laundry stuff, etc.  For example, we have had our membership since February 2015 and have only had to buy toilet paper three times!  The only reason I remember this is because we had awful storage when we were living in our apartment & I remember cramming it into our one little closet (and always having to move it whenever I needed to get something out of there).  So, the upfront costs balance out over time & we’re not buying those things as often as we were before!

I’m not a techie.  Like at all.  I don’t really care to have the latest phone or TV.  I would probably still have my iPhone 4S if we hadn’t decided to join the same phone plan.  I still have the iPhone 6 & plan to keep it until it dies because a.) it’s paid off and b.) it’s not broken so there is no need to replace it.

I love having decorations but I hate spending the money on them!  I buy a lot of things from Dollar Tree, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, & Walmart.  If it’s more than $10 or I don’t have a coupon, I’m probably not going to buy it.

Only within the past year did we start buying more supplements, specially the Jym brand.  They aren’t exactly cheap compared to some that you see on the shelves at Target or Walmart but they are much better in terms of ingredients.

I’ve had some pretty awful haircuts over the past several years & have learned that you get what you pay for.  I’m sure it’s not true in all cases but I have yet to go to a cheaper salon & come out with a really awesome hair cut.  When I’ve gone to the more expensive ones, I’ve been more pleased with my hair.

Alright, so now I’m feeling really cheap as I couldn’t think of anything else that I splurge on.  Tell me about you!

  1. i splurge on skin care/products and treatments, good coffee beans and craft stuff. i cheap out on clothes!

i buy quality workout gear but refuse to pay regular price; i’ll hunt for sales or shop at winners (and even those aren’t the cheapest price).

Splurging on skin care is totally okay & you look awesome! 🙂 Shoes are about the only thing I will splurge on as far as workout stuff goes but I still struggle with dropping anywhere from $80-$100 on a pair!

I’d say I save on all the same things as you! Workout clothes always come from Target or Old Navy for me! With phones, I used to upgrade whenever my mom decided she wanted to. But I was never like, “I want a new one!” I just had to get a new one since my last one freaked out and now I’m on a plan with Michael. I’m hoping this phone lasts me a loooong time and I don’t have to upgrade for yeeears!

I just can’t even imagine dropping $100 on a pair of Lululemon leggings (or however much they cost these days) or something like that. I’d have to be super serious into training to spend that kind of money on something workout related other than shoes. Haha I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t want to upgrade their phone either! 🙂 I kind of want the new iPhone just because it has an amazing camera but I’d rather save money!

I spend on workout clothes! I bought shirts and shorts to work out in 6 years ago and I STILL wear the same ones! I like my Nike shorts and Under Armour shirts (that they don’t make anymore). I also love my Lululemon long sleeved shirts and Under Armour pants. But I haven’t bought new workout clothes in so long, so I feel like it’s fine to spend that much on them. I used to live in them and they are still in really good condition (except some of the tank tops are stained- oh well). I’m so with you on the hair though. I’ve tried to save money on my hair and it doesn’t work. I rarely get it done now, so I don’t feel as guilty, but I don’t even want to think about what I spent on my hair in my single days!

I like Under Armour stuff too & try to find stuff on eBay or something like that. I am okay with spending on their shorts because they are really good quality. I’ve never bought anything from Lululemon… that whole store scares me with their prices, haha. I have had so many cheap & awful haircuts over the past few years. Maybe it’s just the salons I’ve gone to around here but it has been such a pain trying to find a good stylist!
