Weekend- Another One Where I Make a Scene at Petsmart

And it’s another week.  But hey, it’s the first week of February already which means we are getting a tiny bit closer to spring.  That is always a good thing, right?  I really can’t complain though.  I feel like we have had such a mild winter so far.  We got hit with some snow on Tuesday & Wednesday last week but it wasn’t anything crazy.  And most of it is gone already because it was above freezing all weekend.  Today is supposed to be in the mid-50s too which is rare for the end of January!  Alright, enough about the weather.  Let’s get on with the weekend.

Friday evening, we grabbed some dinner before heading over to hang out with Jeremy & Arin.  We spent most of the evening just sitting around, watching random videos on YouTube, and then a new-ish Jim Gaffigan stand up show on Netflix.  I think we got back home a little before 11 and called it a night.

Saturday morning was spent lounging around & doing some cleaning around the house.  Around 1:00, we decided to take Sophie to Petsmart.  Our foster coordinator had suggested trying this to try to get her used to being around people & possibly other animals.  It’s been too cold & muddy to try to take her to a dog park so this was the next option.  She has been getting better about being on a leash but the whole process of getting it on her still requires some work.  She sees the harness & leash and freaks out.  She also will not jump into a car or out of the car so we have to pick her up every time.  She did great walking up to the front of the store & that was when she decided she didn’t want to go inside.  I really didn’t want to have to pick her up & carry her inside so I kept trying to coax her to come inside.  The doors kept opening & shutting which I think freaked her out even more.  And of course the line of people waiting for the cashier just so happened to be facing the front doors so they got to watch me struggle with her.  Even one of the cashiers came outside & tried to help by giving her a treat which she wanted nothing to do with.  Finally we got her inside & walking around the store.  She did surprisingly better than I thought she would, especially with all of the smells & people. Of course she cowered occasionally whenever someone got too close but she didn’t bark any anyone & didn’t have any accidents.

Side note:  The last time I was at Petsmart, it was during an adoption event for the rescue with our first foster pup who ended up getting adopted that day.  I bawled my eyes out for a good 15 minutes while the lady signed all the paperwork & took her away.  That was after I had spent time in the bathroom crying.  We had only had the pup for a week & I had gotten so attached to her.

Luna!

We spent about 40 minutes just walking around the store with her.  She seemed to be “stuck” in one area of the store which we think was because the floor was tile while the other half of the store was a concrete floor.  We headed back home after that & decided to give her a bath since we didn’t have anything else planned for the rest of the day.  She is a wild animal in the bathtub & I’m constantly having to wrangle her.  In fact, I have to almost get in the tub with her.  Almost immediately after getting out of the tub, she started dry heaving & eventually threw up on the floor.  I’m not sure if it was from all the stress of the store & then a bath or what.  She seemed to be fine after that & hasn’t had any other issues the rest of the weekend.

After the whole bath ordeal, we decided last minute to go see Split at 4:00.  I love psychological movies so I have been wanting to see this one since it came out.  While it wasn’t terrible, it wasn’t one of the better movies I’ve seen.  Dissociative identity disorder is so fascinating.  The psychology nerd in me wishes they would have discussed it a little more in the movie.  We headed home after the movie, ate dinner, and spent the rest of the evening laying around on the couch.  With Sophie, of course.

Sunday was pretty typical.  I went to RIP/Body Pump for the first time in 2 months!  I’ve been going to the gym on Sunday mornings instead which has been a nice change.  I get done with my workout by 12 or a little after which feels awesome.  Body Pump isn’t until 1:00 and I feel like it sometimes cuts into the day which is why I haven’t been going as often lately.  But, I didn’t feel like planning out a workout or doing anything HIT-related.  Sometimes I just feel like I need to lift some weights so I felt awesome once I was finished with class.  I used my normal weight for each track since I still incorporate weights in almost all of my workouts (except Cycle) but I’m still feeling a little sore.

After class, I stopped at Marshalls for another bottle of dry shampoo but then ended up leaving with a pair of boots as well.  Damn that store!  Haha.  Then it was off to Target for some groceries and back home to get some meal prepping done for the week.  I’ve been on a hard boiled egg kick lately so I boiled a dozen while making some more protein bars & Kodiak Cake waffles (I fail miserably at making pancakes so I stick to waffles instead).

This week will be interesting.  Sophie has her first round of heartworm shots so I am not sure what to expect with that.  Other than that, we don’t have much else going on.  Have a great week everyone!  Tell me about your weekend!

Linking up with Biana!

This whole time, I thought your blog wasn’t showing up on my feed (or that you quit blogging) but I totally realized it’s because the name of your blog changed. I guess I forgot about it with being busy and not reading blogs nearly as much, but I typically get on a few times a week to catch up on the blogs that I like (only like, 3 that I read anymore). I want to foster cats so bad! I think I’d just adopt them all though, but we can’t even have pets in our condo now in Charleston! It’s so sad- my cats are living with my mom and dad and I hate it! I have been wanting to see a movie lately but now I’ll be back in Charleston with no babysitter, so that probably won’t happen! Or else I’ll go by myself during the week 🙂 Haha.

It’s all good! 🙂 It’s hard to not want to adopt all of the animals! That sucks that you can’t have any pets in your new place though. Since we’ve had the foster pups, I love having them around!

  2. awww poor Sophie. I hope she adjusts soon.

I avoid Marshalls/Winners because it’s way too tempting to go in there.

She has been doing better since Saturday but she still has quite a ways to go! I knew I should have just went to the beauty section of Marshalls, grabbed my dry shampoo, and left. UGH!

Poor pup! 🙁 And YES to Marshalls. I’m taking myself there tonight. And TJ Maxx. And DSW. And probably Ulta. I’m so screwed.

We saw Split this weekend too! I thought it was creepy and then they had to go and make it supernatural at the end, which I wasn’t a huge fan of and thought made it a little cheesy.

Yes! I thought the whole beast thing was a little much. And I never saw the movie with Bruce Willis so I had no idea what was going on with the ending either so now I’m kind of interested to see that one!

Ok I want to see Split, too! It looks so good. Maybe I can convince my husband to go this weekend. Lol at your Marshall’s experience. I feel you, go in for one thing and come out with so many other things I didn’t know I needed. Have a great day!!

It was definitely a weird movie but I liked it! I love anything psychological though so it was right up my alley. Target kills me the same way Marshall’s does too. Those stores just know how to suck people in!
