Oh, prom. What a fun time! I went to a very VERY small high school so prom always involved a catered dinner, dance, and then all night after prom at the school. The junior class raised money to put on the prom & got to pick the venue, food, colors, invitations, etc. I went to prom all four years as my boyfriend at the time was two years older than me. Oh, and I still have ALL of my dresses. I just can’t get rid of them, ya know?
Freshman Year 2003
These are maybe two out of three total pictures I have from this prom. This was before I had my own digital camera & I don’t think I brought a disposable one with me. I remember it being very awkward! Not too many juniors/seniors were dating a freshman & I never really fit in with any of the boyfriend’s friends because I was younger. Also– this was when spray tans were brand new! I had an airbrush one done and I think I kind of resemble an Oompa Loompa.
Sophomore Year 2004
I was still dating the same guy during my sophomore year so I went again! This time, I had more friends that also went as they went with some of the juniors. It was way more fun than the year before since I was able to hang out with more people. I also LOVED that dress (if I remember, I think this style was pretty popular that year!). And my hair! I was really into cornrows in high school…
Junior Year 2005
The boyfriend & I from the previous years ended up breaking up. I did have a date this year but his presence will not be made anywhere on this blog, even with a smiley face head. Let’s just say he was not the best person in the world. My class organized this prom which was a lot of fun. We had it at the Rococo Theater in downtown Lincoln and our theme was “Black Tie Affair”.
Senior Year 2006
I was still dating the same guy from junior year but I’m only going to include the car this time. This was my absolute FAVORITE dress. I remember Alice & I taking a trip to Omaha to go shopping for dresses and I found this one at Von Maur. It was way more expensive than the other ones but SO SO pretty. I think I would totally wear it again if we ever get invited to some place fancy that requires formal dress!
Ah, so many memories. 🙂 And so much fun. I loved shopping for dresses, jewelry, and shoes. And then getting ready the day of. The after prom was always fun as they had tons of food, movies, games, raffles, and just hanging out with everyone until 6am.
I’m excited to read about everyone else’s prom experience. Or you can tell me about yours!
