Friday– GroopDealz, Going Dairy Free, & Saying Goodbye to the Pup!

TGIF!

This week has been something else & I am definitely in need of a break.  Work has been especially crazy the last few days and I can’t remember a time where I’ve ever been so busy.  As in, my phone is ringing off the hook from clients & I have multiple voicemails while I’m on the phone or away from my desk for a quick break.  Crossing my fingers that today is a little slower and I’m actually able to get some work done.  I’ve been so exhausted thanks to miss Sophie wanting to stay up all night & pace the entire house while carrying her toys everywhere.  By the time 5:00 rolled around, the last thing I wanted to do was go to the gym so I only went twice this past week which I haven’t done in months.

Anywho, enough rambling.  Let’s get on to some favorites from this week!

I love love love GroopDealz!  I ordered these shoes on Sunday evening and they arrived by Thursday!  I don’t think I’ve ever had anything arrive within a few days whenever I’ve purchased something from there before.  I don’t have any “dressy” sandals for summer so when I saw these, I had to get them!  I’m awful when it comes to heels and always tend to trip or fall over so I haven’t been wanting anything super high (like my Target ones that are just ridiculous to walk in).

Wednesday was rough.  Sophie was up most of the night & then we had a super loud thunderstorm around 5:30am.  I should have called in & took a mental health day but I trudged through an entire day of work.  By lunch, I needed some more caffeine.  Enter:  Monster Ultra Violet.  This stuff tastes like grape soda!   I love most of their flavors but I think this one is the best by far.

I mentioned that I was trying to cut back on dairy in a previous post but as of right now, I’ve given it up entirely.  I kind of failed last weekend though when I bought some cheese slices thinking they were dairy free when in fact they were only lactose free… whoops.  I have yet to try the actual dairy free cheese –  can anyone tell me if it’s good?  Like worth the $5+ for 10 slices, haha.  I mainly want to see if I feel a little better during the day as I’ve just been feeling so blah lately + I realized that almost every single meal I have has some sort of dairy product in it.  My workouts have felt like they’ve been lagging because of it.  I think it’s still a little too soon to tell if it’s making any sort of difference but I’ll be checking back at the end of the month!

Lastly, Sophie is finally going to her forever home tomorrow!  After nearly six months of fostering, I can’t believe the day is finally here.  It’s truly bittersweet.  The lady that has adopted her lives in Kansas City and has a friend here in Omaha that is offering to take her down there tomorrow.  I know I’m going to cry when we drop her off but I know she’s going to a good home.  The lady is home most of the day whereas we have always been gone plus she already has another dog that can kind of show Sophie the ropes.  Oh man, I better stop talking about this because I’m starting to tear up already!

We don’t have too much planned for this weekend.  Tomorrow might be a little emotional but we’ll be busy celebrating Mother’s Day in the evening & then on Sunday afternoon.  Other than that, let’s hope for a relaxing weekend!   Have a great Friday everyone!

Linking up with Andrea, Erika, Narci, Amanda, and April!

I’m lactose free and keep dairy products (like Cabot cheese without lactose to a minimum). I haven’t had df cheese by itself but I have had pizzas using daiya cheese and thought it tasted fine. Jess at Just Jess

The lactose free cheese I got wasn’t terrible! I’ve seen that Daiya pizza in the stores recently & thought it sounded interesting. Glad to know that it tastes good too!

Oh I am so sad that it is your last day with your pup. That will be hard. My friend doesn’t eat dairy and she has been eating cashew cheese. She loves it and uses it even in Mexican dishes, pizza and what not. Maybe give that a try? I love Groopdealz. I spend way too much on the daily deals. Have a great weekend.

Groopdealz is the best but also the worst because you have to decide like today if want something otherwise it’s gone! I fall into that trap far too often, haha. I’ve tried cashew cheese before on macaroni & “cheese” and it wasn’t terrible. I don’t think I’ve seen it in the stores unless she makes her own??

100% dairy and meat free over here! I will say that Daiya is my favorite dairy free brand, but absolutely do not eat it alone and not mixed or cooked into something. You will have nightmares about that taste, especially if you enjoy the taste of real cheese.

I’m glad to know that Daiya is good as that seems to be the only dairy free cheese that our local grocery store sells! And thanks for the tip! I was actually going to try the sliced cheese as I usually put it on sandwiches but maybe I won’t do that now, haha.

Chao and Follow Your Heart cheese is the only good vegan cheese I’ve had.

I love Groopdealz, but I’m always too lazy to look through the email when I get it haha! Those shoes are so cute, though! And I want to try that Grape Monster – must find it. Especially since I gave up coffee for a month due to stomach issues. I eat pretty much dairy free (I screw up mostly when I’m out to eat) and it can be so difficult, but I feel so much better when I do it, so good luck! And so bittersweet about the pup. Do you think you’re going to get your own soon – one that’s not a foster?

I try to not look at Groopdealz very often because there is always something on there that I want! I have to control myself, haha. I hope you can find that Monster… it’s SO good! I don’t think I can sustain this dairy free lifestyle forever, haha. I mean, I don’t really crave cheese or feel like I need to have it. However, there are so many things I like to eat that have some sort of dairy product in it. Like, vanilla whey protein powder is so much better than vanilla vegan protein powder. As for the dog, I’m not sure if we will get one of our own anytime soon. I’m actually super nervous about getting a puppy because of how much work Sophie was (and she was an adult dog!). Luckily, the rescue gets so many intakes that we might be able to get first dibs if someone surrenders a dog that we can just adopt right away without the dog ever going to a foster home. We will see!
