What’s Up Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!  We’re halfway through to a three day weekend, thank goodness!  I think the next three days are going to be crazy as I’m trying to get all of my work under control since I HATE coming back to a ton of crap to do.

What We’re Eating This Week
Kodiak Cakes (I LOVE these but I need to cut back as they are full of carbs!) on Monday night.  Brats on the grill tonight (Tuesday night).  Not sure what is in store the rest of the week!

What I’m Reminiscing About
SO MUCH!  It seems like August has been a memorable month over the years!  TimeHop reminded me of the college days before my senior year started— such a fun time!  I miss those carefree days.

Hanging out with my friend Kelly before he moved to Delaware to work for Habitat for Humanity.

And then becoming homeowners last year!

Oh, and I officially became an Omahan in August 2013!  I moved from Lincoln after I transferred jobs.

What I’m Loving
I feel like this past month has been a struggle so I can’t think of anything that I’m really loving right now.  🙁

What We’ve Been Up To
Curtis finally joined the 2-9 club earlier this month!  We celebrated by going out to dinner at Wings & Rings with his parents and then dessert from Cupcake Island.  I got him some new shirts from Target and red velvet cake Pro Jym (<– this is the best protein powder I’ve ever tried!).  We also hit up Oscar’s with friends that weekend.

We visited other friends who live within the path of totality & got to meet their new baby, Weston!  It was cloudy almost the entire time so didn’t get to see much of it.  The darkness at 1:00 was probably the weirdest/creepiest feeling ever though!

We’ve had a few people interested in adopting Bud but unfortunately, they fell through.  The first couple came over to our house & spent about an hour talking about him and seeing how he acts.  They sounded really interested but decided to pass as they felt he needs another dog & they were not planning on getting a second dog anytime soon.  The second couple also passed because they have a 3 year old & I had mentioned that Bud probably wouldn’t be very good with small children.

What I’m Dreading
It sounds like they are getting rid of my beloved Tuesday/Thursday HIT class for the next few months so I’m not sure what I’m going to do now.  I’ve been going to that class for the past 4 years now and have only missed it a handful of times (during the summer, they cancel the indoor class & just have the outdoor boot camp which only runs through the end of this month).  It’s such an awesome workout and I feel like it has helped keep me in shape as well as increase my strength.  None of the other locations offer a class like it so I’m pretty bummed.  Sure, I can do my own HIT workouts which I normally do anyway but it’s so much different (and more intense) in the class!

What I’m Working On
Our foster pup.  Just when we think he’s finally made some strides, he seems to regress to old behaviors.  For example, he would wake up in the middle of the night, have to use the bathroom, but then could not relax enough to go back to sleep.  After his neuter surgery, he slept through the ENTIRE night for three days in a row but then went back to his old ways.  He’s been sleeping in our bedroom with the door shut/gated rather than letting him roam the house which has helped a little.  He still wakes up in the middle of the night & cries/barks to let us know he needs to go outside.  Sometimes he will go back to sleep but other times he just wants to stay up all night & pace/bark/cry/sob.

What I’m Excited About
I’ve had my eye on these shoes for a LONG time but I’ve been really cheap and haven’t wanted to spend the $50.  I’ve been holding out for a coupon or a sale which hasn’t happened either.  BUT… I found a very similar pair at Marshalls for only $29!  I couldn’t pass them up because I knew they would be gone the next time I went in there.

What I’m Watching/Reading
Currently, not watching anything.  We are actually cancelling our cable next month so I can’t get into any shows!  As for reading, I’m so close to finishing The Hate U Give and I also started reading Seed.

What I’m Listening To
I love love love the daily mix feature on Spotify – they make a new playlist every day based on what you listen to.  Although I’m kind of irritated that they NEVER include any Metallica songs or make a metal playlist, I’m pretty impressed with the classic rock one and listen to that a lot.

What I’m Wearing
Still in my workout clothes from class as I’m typing this on Tuesday night..  I know, I KNOW.

What We’re Doing This Weekend
Possible quick road trip to Kansas City to go to Ikea.  We have been wanting this headboard (not the frame that the bed is on) ever since we moved into our house but it kind of got pushed to the side as we had other projects to do/spend our money on.  We have a king size bed with ZERO room for a night stand on either side.  This is perfect because it has the shelves inside the frame and an opening underneath for the vent & outlet.

Other than that, I’m looking forward to a three day weekend and a break from work!

What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month
I’m hopeful that Bud will find his forever home.  Because when he gets adopted, that means we can SLEEP which is something that I miss so much right now.

What Else Is New
Liquid Courage was offering free piercings with their apprentice earlier this month so I went after work one day & got a snug piercing.  The actual piercing itself didn’t hurt too much but the clamp… holy hell, WHY does that have to be so excruciating??!  My last piercing was my tragus in 2011!  I’ve been wanting do a snug, forward helix, or anti-tragus but decided on the snug for now.  I can’t wait to change it out for a captive bead ring instead of the barbell.

My stepbrother gets married NEXT MONTH!  Time to get my butt into gear and stop eating so much junk food, haha.

Bonus: Best Back To School Lunches/Tips
I honestly don’t have anything for this, haha.

Have a great day everyone!  Linking up with Shay, Sheaffer, and Mel.

  1. Facebook always reminds me of stuff of the past; especially little baby pics when Kayla was first born.
