I don’t know about you guys but I sure could use an extra day off right now. Work is always busy the day after a holiday so I feel like I am going to be playing catch up most of the day. But… I picked up a cute new notepad at Marshalls yesterday so that always makes work a little more bearable. I’m such a sucker for cute office supplies.
Anywho, it was glorious to have a long weekend despite being busy every single day of it. Friday evening after work, we took Bud out to Curtis’ parents place so he could socialize with their black lab and also because we were going to borrow their pickup to take to KC the next morning. We ate vegan pizza & sat out on the porch while the pups played in the yard before heading back home. I was SO tired because Bud still isn’t sleeping through the night and ended up falling asleep around 10:30pm. Wild Friday night, that’s for sure!
We had plans to get up early & head down to Kansas City to pick up the headboard from Ikea that we’ve been putting off buying ever since we moved in to our house last summer. We need this headboard for our bedroom since we have a king size bed & the only wall that it fits on also has the air vent on it. It is open underneath so it would allow for air to actually move through the room rather than having to corner our bed against the other wall so that we can keep it open.
Unfortunately, they were completely sold out of the king size white headboards and weren’t getting another shipment until today. They had black ones in stock but white looks so much cleaner. And black furniture sucks. I even checked to see if they were offering any Labor Day specials but nope… still an $80 shipping charge. Yuck.
So, Curtis took the pickup back to his parents place while I did some shopping. I had a gift card to Sephora that was burning a hole in my pocket so I made the trek out west to the full size store at Village Pointe. But first, I hit up Old Navy as they had 50% off dresses and I’ve been wanting one of the long sleeve dresses now. I should have gotten a few other colors because they actually had my size in the store whereas they don’t have them online.
But my favorite purchase has to be the black Rockstar Jeggings (which I did not take a picture of in the dressing room). I’ve been wanting a pair of black skinny jeans or jeggings because I’ve had the same pair for three years now & they are starting to see their day. I don’t normally shop at Old Navy for jeans because they never fit right but I read about these on another blog & was intrigued. Jeans have not been my friend lately so when I saw these were 50% off in the store AND they actually fit, I couldn’t pass them up. They are basically leggings but WITH BACK POCKETS. HALLELUJAH! They had denim ones also but they were pretty picked over so I didn’t get a chance to try them.
And then I finally made it to Sephora where I blew my gift card on a new eyeliner pencil sharpener, mascara, and a travel size of the Living Proof dry shampoo. Because I’m getting tired of Batiste and wanted to try something better. After all of that, I stopped at the Restore to see if they had any decent light fixtures, mirrors, or other decorations but that ended up being a dud. Now that it’s starting to get darker earlier, I’m realizing how awful the light fixtures are in our back kitchen area. We think it used to be a porch but whoever owned it previously decided to enclose it & turn it into a breakfast nook but they left the light fixtures which belong on a porch, not a kitchen.
I was in Target when Curtis called me about going to the Husker game as his friend had extra tickets. This was just before 5:00 and they wanted to get to Lincoln by 6:00. So, I rushed home, touched up my makeup, tried to make my hair decent, and headed out to their place which is all the way across Omaha. We hopped in their car as soon as we arrived and ended up getting to Lincoln JUST in time for the game. We hadn’t been to one since 2014 so it was hard to pass up tickets! It would have been a lot of fun to go down to Lincoln to tailgate before the game but it was still a good time. The energy in Lincoln on a game day is crazy. Even just being downtown and not actually going to the game is exciting. Hopefully we can get down there for a few more games this year just to hang out with them since they have season tickets.
We ended up getting home around 1:00am and called it a night!
Sunday wasn’t anything too eventful. We went to the gym in the morning, grabbed a few things at the grocery store, and headed back home. Curtis’ cousin was having some family over to grill out so we went over there around 5 and stayed until about 11. Monday was pretty much the same except that I made a trip to Marshalls and Target in the morning before Curtis’ cousin came over as he was in town from Kansas City. We went out to lunch at Zio’s, grabbed some groceries for the week, and came back home where I did some cleaning & overdue laundry. Curtis & some of his cousins went to see WWE at the Century Link while I stayed home & continued to clean/caught up on things around the house. We’ve only lived in our house for a YEAR now and I just finally put up my necklace holder. Some of them were still in the ziploc bags from when we moved in!
And now it’s back to reality. I mentioned this in my post last week but the gym no longer has the HIT class at 5:30pm that I’ve been going to for four years now. 🙁 I’m going to be so lost on Tuesdays & Thursdays now because no other location offers a class like it. It’s kind of a toned down version of boot camp classes or Crossfit because they don’t have the space or equipment. Every day was different but we would have a “WOD” to do throughout the hour. I love it because I feel my strongest during the class and it really tests my endurance some days. They replaced the HIT class with Insanity now which isn’t a terrible workout. I’ve done it a few times and always ended up dripping in sweat by the end of it but it’s all plyometrics whereas the other class involves kettlebells, barbells, etc.
NOW it’s time to get to work though. My stepbrother is getting married one month from now and I definitely feel like I let myself get a little too lax with food this past summer. Curtis has been talking about doing keto again and while I don’t think I can go that extreme (especially if I’m doing Insanity classes now), I could definitely cut back on the carbs.
Alright, I think it’s time to wrap this up for now. Have a great day everyone! Linking up with Biana!
