Weekend- A Quiet House

And it’s Monday again.

But, it’s going to be a good week!  We’re dog-less now so that means getting back into a normal routine as well as SLEEP.  Much needed precious sleep!  I don’t know how you parents do it & make it out alive.  I felt like a zombie for a good month, was grumpy all. the. time. and felt like I could fall asleep at the drop of a hat.  All because of a darn dog.  I can’t even imagine a baby!

Although, I will say that it’s weird having a quiet house now.  No more clicking nails against the floors or having to hide the trash can so Apollo doesn’t get into it.  I found myself trying to throw things away in the spot where we used to have to keep the trash can!  Haha.

Anywho, this weekend wasn’t anything too crazy.  Friday after work, Curtis & I went out to Village Pointe so he could pick up his new iPhone at the Apple Store.  Mine was shipped to our house but for some reason, he couldn’t get his phone shipped so had to go to the store to get it.  Since we were out in West Omaha, we decided on Oscar’s for dinner since we never make it out there & they have some of the best pizza/wings in town.  Then we grabbed some ice cream at Dairy Queen and headed home where we spent the rest of the night messing around on our new phones!  I’ve had the iPhone 6 for three years now so upgrading to the 8 has been wonderful.  It’s SO much faster and the pictures are beautiful!

The dogs were up at 5:30am on Saturday.  And then again at 6:30am.  Ugh.  Curtis let them outside & fed them while I slept and then he went back to bed.  I got up around 8, messed around on my computer for awhile, and then went to the gym around 10:30.  I ran a mile on the treadmill and then did this workout that was already on the board:

I tweaked it a little and did 20 minutes instead of 17 minutes, swapped out front squats for back squats with a 45lb bar because front squats make me want to throw up for some reason, and swapped out kettlebell snatches for kettlebell high pulls.  I cannot get kettlebell snatches down for the life of me.  🙁

After the gym, I had to run home and get ready to go over to Britnee & Dustin’s for her 30th birthday/diaper party/Husker game.  I didn’t take any pictures but I got to catch up with Jacquelyn which was really nice.  🙂  We watched the game, ate way too much food, and headed out a little before 7.  We stopped at Best Buy to look at some wireless chargers (and also to buy a PopSocket for my new phone) before hitting up HyVee, and heading home for the night.  I spent a good 2 hours cleaning the house since we were having people over the next day + finally putting up some fall decorations.  And took pictures of the dogs of course.  Bud was concerned because Apollo stole the bone he had been chewing.  (THOSE WRINKLES…)

We were up by 8am on Sunday morning as the new adoptive family was coming over around 9 to meet the pups & take them home!  It was nice to finally meet in person after just talking on the phone this past week.  Bud was pretty skeptical of the new people but that was to be expected.  Apollo didn’t care, he wanted pets right away from them.  They spent some time in the yard with the pups before loading them up & hitting the road!  They live in southern Kansas so had quite a drive.  Bud did so well with them which was wonderful but definitely makes me wonder if he just hated me, haha.  He had so many bad experiences with me so I feel like he just associated me with everything negative.

After the pups left (I didn’t cry as much as I thought I would!), we decided to get brunch at 1912 and sit on their rooftop since it was so nice outside.  I love being close to Benson but I feel like we hardly ever venture over there!  Their brunch food was amazing so I’m thinking we need to go back for lunch or dinner.  🙂

After brunch, we walked through the farmers market in Aksarben before heading back home.  I went to Body Pump for the first time in months at 1:00 and then ran a bunch of errands afterward.  They just opened a new TJ Maxx & Homegoods that I wanted to check out.  And then return a bag I bought last weekend.  And Trader Joe’s.  It was a busy afternoon!  I didn’t get home until 5:00 and spent the rest of the evening doing some food prepping, writing this post, working for my side/online job, and getting everything together for another week.  I got an update from Bud & Apollo’s new momma — they did very well in the car and slept most of the way.  And then explored their new home before passing out from the excitement!  I sure hope they keep in touch & let us know how Bud is doing.  I’m so interested to see how he progresses & learns how to be a “normal” dog!

Have a great week everyone!  Linking up with Biana for Weekending!

We live near Benson as well ! Heck we might be neighbors 🙂 Have a wonderful weak, rain today and tomorrow but it’s suppose to be feeling like fall the rest of the week !! I’ll be honest we’ve never been to 1912 but I’ve heard wonderful things about it 🙂

Hey, we might be neighbors! You definitely have to check out 1912! We’ve only been there a few times but their rooftop is pretty awesome!

weird, isn’t it? the quiet? that’s how i feel when kayla leaves for an overnight trip to the grandparents. i’ll stand by her room and look around because it feels so weird not having noise around me all the time.

so glad that the pups are now at their forever home!

Yes, it’s so weird! But, I think we are getting back into a regular routine without crazy dogs around. I’m so happy they were able to find a home! And love that they ended up going together!

What are you doing as a side job? I must have totally missed that! I’m glad the pups are happy! I’m surprised Bud did so well too, but I’m glad he’s happy! My best friend’s parents have always had Bassett hounds and they’re so cute. They tried to foster them but now they have 5 Bassett hounds so they stopped, hahaha. I love kettlebell snatches! We don’t have kettlebells in the gym I go to here though. I wish we did! I have been wanting to go out to brunch for so long! I LOVE going out for brunch, but I could really only go on weekends and I don’t want to take Jackson out to eat since it takes the enjoyment out of it! Are you guys going to keep fostering dogs?

I really haven’t talked much about it on here because honestly, I’m not sure what all I can say, haha. It’s a company called Appen and it’s just contracted work but it’s kind of a time sucker sometimes. I love bassets, they are just so funny & have such a personality. I think we are going to continue fostering after we take a break from these guys. I might lose my mind if we end up with another difficult one like Bud though. I cannot get the KB snatch down for the life of me no matter how many times I try so I just resort to dumbbells instead, hah. Brunch really isn’t a thing here in Omaha like it seems to be in bigger cities. There are only a handful of places to go! Maybe it will become a “thing” here though, haha.
