Weeeeekend– Boot Camp & Birthday Shenanigans

Wooooo…. Monday again.  Today is definitely going to be a struggle after the crazy busy weekend we just had.  Let’s hope the office is quiet & the day flies by.  🙂 

After work on Friday, I went to Renegade for their 5:30 class.  Last Friday was the first time I tried it out after a lady I workout with on Tuesdays/Thursdays mentioned it and I LOVED it!  Curtis went with me last week but couldn’t make it to this class so it was just me along with three regulars.  

It’s all bootcamp & kickboxing which are two of my favorite workouts.  The two classes I’ve done have been strictly bootcamp workouts since Friday is their “anything goes” day and they have kicked my butt!  It’s been a long time since I have done workouts that are as tough as these and I always feel SO much better afterward.  Curtis & I have been talking about possibly adding a membership to this place since the YMCA is pretty disappointing right now.  (Yes, I’m still bitter that they cut the Tuesday/Thursday class….)

Since I was a sweaty mess after class, I went straight home where we relaxed the rest of the night.  And I did some work for my online job.  Curtis had to work Saturday morning and I ended up getting up around the time he had to leave.  I messed around on my computer for awhile and then went to the store to grab some things for our trip + the birthday party. 

We left Omaha around 12:30 and made the 4 hour trek to Broken Bow to celebrate Luke’s 30th birthday.  As soon as we got to their house, I had to quickly get ready since I didn’t bother with putting on any makeup or normal clothes before we left.  We then all piled into the cars, stopped at the liquor store, and then drove to Taylor to spend the night at Bootleg Brewers.  It’s a brewery out in the middle of nowhere with cabins on the land that you can stay overnight in.  Such an awesome idea!  (Side note: Luke & Nancee sort of introduced Curtis & I back when we were seniors in college-  I was friends with Nancee who was dating Luke at the time and Curtis & Luke were roommates)  

As soon as we got there, they got all checked in to the cabins so we dropped our stuff off and snapped some pictures— which they do not do any justice!  It was SO beautiful out there.



The entire evening was spent drinking, eating, and socializing with everyone.  I had never had their beer before and it did not disappoint!  The food was pretty amazing too.

The brewery closed at 11 so we headed back to the cabins for the after party shenanigans.  

I think we all ended up crashing around 1:30am but then everyone started getting up around 7:30-8:00am…. ugh.  Let’s just say it was a rough morning for all of us!  Getting old sucks, seriously.  We packed up the cars and headed back to Broken Bow to get our car.  We didn’t stick around long since they were getting ready to spend some time with Luke’s family.  We got back to Omaha around 1:30pm, grabbed some hangover food (Amigos…mmmm), and headed home.  

We powered through the exhaustion and spent the afternoon cleaning/vacuuming the cars, doing laundry, grocery shopping, and prepping for the week.  And it was a much earlier night because I was dead, haha.  With all of our friends turning 30 this year/next year, I don’t know how many birthday parties I can handle!  But… YOLO, right?  (Does anyone even say that anymore…?)

  1. i am missing those high intensity workouts like you wouldn’t believe! just 3 more days until it’s been a month since rehab started and i’m going to ask my PT today if i can try and go to a class on thursday. i don’t want to undo all the rehab i’ve done so far so hopefully he will clear me to go!

    I could not handle all that fun! Haha. But that seriously sounds like an AWESOME idea! Do you have to pay per cabin and book it like a hotel? Also, that top picture of you and Curtis doesn’t look like you for some reason. I love bootcamp type classes. I miss working out! Ah! You should totally add the membership! Is it expensive or is it pretty reasonable?

      Haha, I thought that about the picture too… maybe because it’s kind of pixelated?? Who knows! But yes, I think you have to book them like a hotel as they had to check in & get the door codes. The trainer for the gym has been SUPER NICE and letting us workout for free the last few weeks. I think a membership runs about $50-$60 per month, not sure what it would cost for the both of us to go though. We are definitely missing our classes so it’s nice that this gym is fairly close!
