Happy Wednesday! Is this week over yet? I’m so ready for another break! This past weekend really kicked my butt, haha.

What We’re Eating This Week
Monday night, we had tacos and last night we this potato soup that we randomly found at the store. Not sure what we will have the rest of the week yet! Since we were struggling all day Sunday, we didn’t really prep or plan meals for this week.
What I’m Reminiscing About
Bud & Apollo, our last foster pups. I know, I know, they were just adopted last month. I got an update from their new owner after their first week and it sounds like they were adjusting well. I get so sad when I think about Bud because he was such a beautiful dog & it breaks my heart how scared he was of everything.
What I’m Loving
My Halloween wreath for our front door that I randomly found at Burlington! Who knew they had cute home decor?
I’m normally a fall-hater (cold mornings, sunset before 7pm, daylight savings, etc.) but I am LOVING the trees downtown right now. I drive by these every morning on my way to work so I walked over there on my lunch break last week to snap some pictures.
What We’ve Been Up To
We spent the first weekend this month in Brookings, South Dakota to celebrate my stepbrother’s wedding! It was a lot of fun to spend some time with him & his wife, Halley as well as my stepsister and stepdad. On our way back to Nebraska, we spent some time with my grandparents as I hadn’t seen them since our wedding last summer.
We have been trying out the boot camp classes at Renegade in Council Bluffs which has been a wonderful change from my current routine! We are definitely considering adding a membership to this gym because the workouts are NO JOKE.
This past weekend, we celebrated our friend Luke’s 30th birthday at Bootleg Brewers outside of Taylor, Nebraska. It was a lot of fun to get together with them again despite the next day being pretty rough.
What I’m Dreading
Winter…. always. We’ve had some really nice days this month where it almost felt like summer but I know the cold weather is coming soon! 🙁
What I’m Working On
Our guest room a.k.a my giant closet, haha. I bought some supplies & picked out some colors that I really like so I’m thinking about painting this weekend. It was one room we decided to hold off on when we bought the house & painted five rooms in one weekend. I actually like the color that it is which is why it has taken so long to do anything with it but there are so many holes & scuffs all over the walls from the previous owners. I also got some new curtains but need to figure out how to make them less sheer!
What I’m Excited About
I purchased a filtered shower head from Amazon & installed it last weekend. I’ve washed my hair a few times since then & can tell a difference! We have super hard water which has been killing my hair so I got this to try out until we decide to shell out the $$$ for a water softener system.
These jeggings from Old Navy. I can’t wear any of their normal jeans because they fit me so weird but these are so comfortable. They are basically leggings but have BACK POCKETS.
What I’m Watching/Reading
We cancelled our cable last month otherwise I would be watching American Horror Story right now. I haven’t read or heard ANYTHING about it this season— is it any good??
I’m currently reading Violent Ends and love it so far.
What I’m Listening To
A whole bunch of random stuff! I love the daily mix playlists on Spotify because I have a classic rock/metal playlist, a 70s/80s playlist, an alternative playlist, and then sort of an indie/metal/alternative mix (not sure how else to describe this one).
What I’m Wearing
Sweatpants & a long sleeved shirt…. it’s cold!
What We’re Doing This Weekend
See above – painting the guest room. We will probably go to boot camp again on Friday after work. On Sunday, Nancee is running the Good Life Halfsy so I though it would be fun to go to Lincoln and cheer her on!
What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month
Time off from work! November is a three holiday month which means long weekends!
Registration for Trek Up The Tower starts the 1st. I can’t believe it’s already that time again! After that, it’s go time for training which I’m not even sure I’m going to bother with the stair machine this year. I’ve been running on the treadmill a few days per week since the beginning of the summer so I’m hoping that helps with my endurance. And our neighborhood has some massive hills so running up & down them might not be a bad idea.
What Else Is New
Not sure if/when we are going to take in another foster pup. I kind of miss having a dog around but honestly, I am still feeling so burnt out from Bud. Someday we will get a dog of our own! Just maybe not a puppy as I’m not sure I can handle the sleep deprivation again.
Bonus: What is your favorite Thanksgiving side dish?
Um… mashed potatoes!
