Hello! I’m SO glad that I took today off from work as I feel like I have a ton of things to catch up on around the house. We have had something going on almost every weekend over the past month so some cleaning & organizing needs to be done! I still have Halloween decorations up & I have the back half of our kitchen filled with a project I started but never finished from a few weeks ago.
As you can figure by my title, we spent this past weekend in Minnesota! It was kind of a last minute decision to go up there even though Curtis has been talking about going to a Timberwolves game forever. Apparently they aren’t going to have another weekend home game until the middle of winter and that would have been a dicey road trip. We both worked Friday morning & then left Omaha around 1:30. We made quite a few stops on the way up there (too much water!) and then hit some traffic thanks to an accident south of Minneapolis so we didn’t end up at the hotel until 7:30.
We were starving by the time we got to the hotel so I quickly changed clothes & got ready to go eat somewhere. We decided on Hell’s Kitchen which did NOT disappoint! Oh, and we were able to get there by walking through the Skyway — GENIUS, Minneapolis. We were able to avoid the freezing cold AND possible snowy sidewalks thanks to being able to stay inside the entire time.
The restaurant had these black chandeliers everywhere and I LOVE them!
We didn’t stick around too long after we finished eating thanks to my stomach being a little funky. Even though our meal was amazing, it just made my stomach hurt even worse (not from the food– it had started while we were still in the car on the way there). So, we walked back to the hotel and called it a night before 10pm!
Saturday morning, we were up fairly early and walked over the Dunn Brothers for some coffee after getting ready. After that, we walked back to the hotel to get our car & then head to the best place ever — MALL OF AMERICA. 😀 😀 😀 The last (and only) time I was there was 2006 but I barely remember it thanks to getting super sick that weekend. I was mostly excited for Nordstrom & Nordstrom Rack since we don’t have one anywhere near Omaha. Sadly, their selection of items was pretty sad so I walked out of both stores empty handed. I thought I had a $10 Nordstrom Note but then when I searched my emails, it was nowhere to be found. 🙁
We walked ALL three levels of the mall which was exhausting but so worth it! We had gotten to the mall around 11, walked around the entire third level and part of the second level, had lunch at Margaritaville, and then walked around the rest of the mall where we didn’t leave until after 4! The crowds were pretty insane by the afternoon so I’m glad we got there in the morning before it got too busy. I feel like we spent more on our lunch than what we bought in the actual mall! I got some stuff at Ulta since I had a $10 off coupon that was only good until the 5th. And then I got a shirt at Old Navy to wear to the basketball game since I don’t really own anything navy.
After the mall, we went back to the hotel to get ready for the game. Again, we got to go through the Skyway all the way to the Target Center to avoid the cold! 🙂
We left the game after the third quarter to walk over to Brother’s to eat a super late dinner and also to catch some UFC fights. The fights got over just in time as the bar started filling up with the young’ins so we headed back to the hotel and called it a night.
And then Sunday. We were up pretty early so we packed up & hit the road back to Nebraska after grabbing some breakfast. I ended up driving nearly the entire way home which was quite exhausting. We got home just before 4:00 so we planted ourselves on the couch where Curtis watched the Chiefs game & I did some work on my computer. The rest of the evening was spent grocery shopping, unpacking, and relaxing.
Overall, it was nice to get away from Omaha for a minute + I enjoyed Minneapolis. We didn’t spend a lot of time exploring the city hence the minimal pictures. It’s about a 5.5-6 hour trip so I would love to go back & spend a few more days there! Maybe in the summer instead. 🙂 Or attend an early season Vikings game when it’s not so cold! However, I’m ready for a break from all the traveling & spend a few relaxing weekends at home. 🙂
